PLC, SCADA & Industrial Automation
A controls project track covering control basics and panel safety, ladder logic, PLC programming on simulators, SCADA and HMI supervision, drives and sensors, and panel documentation.
A real sequence, not a playlist
Six numbered weeks. Every week ends in a deliverable a reviewer actually checks — plan roughly twenty focused hours per week.
Course workspace: 23 lessons · 11 reads · 6 checkpoints · 6 reviewed builds
- 01~20h effort
Week 1 · Control Basics & Panel Safety
- —NO/NC contacts, relays, contactors, and push-buttons
- —Earthing concepts and lockout-tagout discipline
- —Reading a control-circuit sketch line by line
Deliverable: Control-circuit sketch with safety notes
- 02~20h effort
Week 2 · Ladder Logic & IO
- —Rungs, seals, timers, and counters
- —Digital vs analog IO and addressing discipline
- —Standard circuits: DOL starter, interlocks, sequences
Deliverable: Ladder programs for five standard circuits
- 03~20h effort
Week 3 · PLC Project on Simulator
- —Scan-cycle intuition and why order matters
- —Sequencing with interlocks and fault handling
- —Sequence charts before any code
Deliverable: Simulated PLC project with sequence chart
- 04~20h effort
Week 4 · SCADA, HMI & Alarms
- —Tags, trends, and historian basics
- —HMI screen design operators can read at a glance
- —Alarm rationalization: every alarm needs an action
Deliverable: HMI screen set with alarm list
- 05~20h effort
Week 5 · Drives, Sensors & Panel Docs
- —VFD basics and motor-starting methods
- —Proximity, level, and temperature sensor literacy
- —GA sketches, IO lists, and wire-schedule notes
Deliverable: Panel dossier with GA sketch and IO list
- 06~20h effort
Week 6 · Final Project Review
- —Project reflection on sequencing and safety decisions
- —Completion review against the published rubric
- —Training-completion record when requirements are met
Deliverable: Final project submission
What you actually build
No copy-paste tutorials or toy repos. Every enrolled student submits a production-grade portfolio project evaluated against an industry rubric.
Simulated Automation Cell with HMI Supervision
Controls dossier: ladder-logic circuit set, a simulated PLC sequencing project with interlocks, HMI screens with a rationalized alarm list, and panel documentation.
Portfolio Deliverables Checked by Reviewers
Checked by named reviewers
Reviewers are named at cohort start and published with the batch. They check every submission against the rubric — passing names appear on the certificate.
- Every submission checked against a published academic and technical rubric
- One fair remediation attempt if a deliverable falls short of acceptance threshold
- No certificate without passing code checks — payment never substitutes genuine review
- Cryptographic verification QR permanently linked to your individual submission records
Where EE / EEE / ECE students take this track
Matched by branch against the BEU college directory — not an affiliation claim. Academic credit is decided by each college's T&P cell, so ask your HoD to review the syllabus before you enrol.
